This presentation will provide an in-depth look at the importance of estate planning and the value of a collaborative approach between financial advisers and estate planning specialist solicitors.  They will explore how this partnership ensures that clients’ risks are minimized and opportunities for wealth preservation and distribution are maximized whilst taking in a clients personal and family circumstances to ensure what the clients wishes to occur can.  Leveraging their extensive experience, they will be sharing some insights and case studies that no doubt will help your relationship with your family business clients.

  • Comprehensive Estate Planning: Understanding the full scope of estate planning, including wills, trusts, and tax-efficient strategies for asset distribution.
  • Role of the Financial Adviser: How a financial adviser provides tailored advice on investments, retirement planning, and asset protection, ensuring that clients' financial goals are aligned with their estate plan.
  • Collaborative Expertise with Solicitors: The critical role of an estate planning solicitor in drafting legally sound documents, addressing tax implications, and ensuring the estate plan reflects the client’s wishes in a legally binding manner.
  • Risk Mitigation: Exploring how financial advisers and solicitors work together to anticipate potential risks, such as family disputes, tax liabilities, and legislative changes, and put safeguards in place.
  • Seizing Opportunities: Identifying opportunities to enhance wealth transfer, optimize tax efficiency, and incorporate charitable giving or other philanthropic efforts into the estate plan.
  • Case Studies and Best Practices: Real-world examples illustrating the benefits of an integrated approach to estate planning

For those of you that are new to the Advisor Group, this will be a great session to discuss with Kate & Lydia their thoughts on the importance of a holistic, well-coordinated strategy between financial advisers and estate planning solicitors to secure clients' legacies for future generations.


Presenters:

Kate Donnan 

Kate is a solicitor with a strong focus on building meaningful client relationships and providing expert advice in succession law. Since her admission to practice in 2017, she has specialized in estate planning, estate administration, and property law. With over nine years of experience, Kate works closely with advisers and accountants to deliver comprehensive solutions for her clients.  Kate holds a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Masters of Law (Applied Law) specializing in Wills and Estates. She is working towards becoming a Wills and Estates Law Accredited Specialist and is an active member of de Groots Guardian Services. Kate is a member of the Law Society of NSW, a full Trust and Estate Practitioner with the international Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and an accredited Family Business Advisor with Family Business Association.  

Lydia Blakemore

Lydia Blakemore is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) with expertise in guiding multi-generational families and family-owned businesses through wealth creation, business succession, and estate planning. Drawing from her own family business experience, she offers tailored advice that balances financial goals with family values.  As an Accredited Adviser with the Family Business Association and Partner of Pitcher Partners Private Wealth, Lydia provides award-winning financial advice, helping clients secure their legacies for future generations.
