During the school holidays, we invite FBA members and school-age children to our Meet the Owners from Melba’s Chocolates & Confectionery!

Melba’s Chocolates was started by Graeme and Joy Foristal in March 1981 in a small wash house behind their Adelaide restaurant, ‘Melba’s’!

Today, the Melba’s Chocolate Factory boasts five production rooms, and is home to iconic SA products like Traffic Lights, Inch Licorice and an assortment of chocolate and confectionery sweets.

This event is a little different as we’re inviting school-age children of our FBA members during the school holidays to learn the benefits of embracing your family business. We encourage you to hear Graeme’s son, Tom’s story of growing up in the family business and what a growth mindset has been able to achieve.

During the morning you'll hear:

  • What's involved in growing a family business
  • Company values, more than just words.
  • Family Business Ownership, Boundaries and Navigating Unique Family Dynamics
  • The importance of education and the right mindset
  • Learnings along the way

This event series will give members the opportunity to get an exclusive look into the workings of the diverse family business sector.

Join your peers as a SA/NT FBA member opens their door and invites the family business community in for a "peek behind the curtain". You'll get the opportunity to see what they do and importantly, hear why and how they do it, as the family shares their business story whilst enjoying a morning of hot chocolates and networking. Register today, you never know what nuggets of gold you'll gain from our host family to take back to apply to your family business.

Please contact the FBA Office on 1800 249 357 if you have any questions or require assistance with your registration.

Share the SA events page with your family and colleagues - spread the word.
